English Elocution Competition – Std IX & X 2023-24

An English Elocution Competition in collaboration with The Forum of Free Enterprise was held in the School Auditorium this morning. The aim was to develop the art of public speaking to enhance vocal production and delivery, overcoming shyness and stage fear and make an impact in group discussions and interviews.

The selection process consisted of three stages. In the preliminary stage, all the students of Standard IX and X participated, out of which thirty three students were selected for the semi-finals.

There were ten finalists for the event which was judged by Ms.Gursharan Sihra, Antonio D’silva (Dadar) and Ms. Anuja Ajmera, Lead Facilitator, Museum of Solutions (Lower Parel).

The judges were appreciative of the confidence with which the students put forth their views on either of the topics of their choice :

· The Impact of Technology.

· My Dream Vacation.

Tanisha Sawant (Std X) was adjudged the Best Speaker and won a cash prize of INR1250 sponsored by The Forum of Free Enterprise. She will represent Balmohan Vidyamandir at M.R. Pai Foundation Elocution Competition – Mumbai Level.

The First Runner Up was Priyanka Zele (Std X) who won a cash prize of INR1000 and the Second Runner Up, Tanish Potphode (Std X) walked away with a prize of INR750. The finalists received valuable feedback from the judges after the event, who suggested measures which could further enhance their oratory skills. The judges were also impressed by the wonderful hosting of Varad Pandit (Std X) and Sayyam Shah (Std X).
